Regents-centered tutoring for NYC public school students

Most students in New York City public schools take Regents exams as part of high school, and Bronx students are no exception. Our strongest fit for Bronx families is Regents preparation in English Language Arts and U.S. History and Government, taught by an educator with recent NYC classroom experience. We know how the exams are scored and where students typically lose points: essays that summarize instead of argue, and document questions that need to be linked to the period.

The state schedules Regents exams in January, June and August, and many Bronx students first meet a tutor after a disappointing score report. That is a perfectly good time to start. We look at the report, identify the gaps and plan toward the next window.

Schools and colleges in the area

The Bronx is home to a wide range of schools: specialized public high schools like Bronx High School of Science, neighborhood high schools such as DeWitt Clinton and Lehman, and well-known independent schools including Fordham Preparatory School, Riverdale Country School and the Ethical Culture Fieldston School. Colleges nearby include Fordham University, Lehman College (CUNY), Bronx Community College and Monroe College. Students at all of these have different needs: a Bronx Science student might want a precise SAT tune-up, while a student at a neighborhood school might need steady course help and a strong Regents plan. We are not affiliated with any of these institutions; they are named here for context.

Elementary and middle school support

Younger students benefit from early help. Reading and writing tutoring strengthens fluency and comprehension, and math tutoring builds the number sense that later grades rely on. Families can also use homework help and study skills to set up a routine that a child can keep after tutoring ends. Every session ends with notes for parents, so you know what was covered.

College pathways and adult learners

For students planning for college, the SAT may matter for some schools and not for others, since test policies vary and change, so we recommend checking each college's current policy and the CUNY and SUNY requirements directly. For adults, college and adult tutoring, LSAT prep and modern skills such as web development and Introduction to AI are available online in the evenings and weekends where possible.

How sessions work in the Bronx

Online is the default and the simplest to schedule: all you need is a device and an internet connection. When in-person is better, we can meet at your home or at a public place such as a branch of the New York Public Library. The Bronx Library Center and other branches offer study space, although each branch has its own rules and hours. In-person sessions have a travel fee based on location, agreed before booking, and we will tell you plainly if a location is impractical.

Price

Tutoring is $100 per hour for every subject. Five, ten and twenty-session packs lock in a weekly slot but are not a discount on the rate. If you are comparing options in other boroughs see Manhattan, Queens and Brooklyn, or the Westchester page.
