Tutoring for how Westchester families really schedule
Many Westchester students have full calendars: sports, music, clubs and often a heavy load of honors or AP coursework. Tutoring has to fit around all of that. That is why online sessions are our default. A student can log in from home straight after practice, with no driving, and parents do not lose an evening to a commute. When in-person is better, such as for a younger child or a student who focuses better with someone in the room, we come to you.
We serve the whole county, including White Plains, Yonkers, New Rochelle, Mount Vernon, Scarsdale, Rye, Bronxville, Pelham, Mamaroneck, Harrison, Ossining, Chappaqua and the rest of lower, central and northern Westchester. In-person sessions have a travel fee that depends on how far we travel, quoted and agreed before you book.
Test prep for Westchester students
Many Westchester families begin SAT preparation early. The digital SAT is taken on a device in the College Board's Bluebook app, with Saturday test dates through the school year, and many students sit it in the spring of eleventh grade with another try in the fall. We build the plan backward from the date your child chooses, so a student with a spring test date gets a different timeline than one aiming for August or October.
We do not tutor the ACT, which some Westchester families consider. If your child is deciding between the two, we can help with the SAT side, but we are honest that ACT preparation is not something we offer.
Regents and school-year support
Westchester public school students take Regents exams in the same January, June and August windows as the rest of New York State. Many students find the writing portions and document-based questions on the ELA and U.S. History Regents harder than expected. We provide timed practice and feedback against the state rubrics for both exams. For ongoing coursework, homework help and study skills fits students who are doing well on paper but spending too long to get there.
We also help younger students. Reading and writing tutoring and math tutoring support elementary and middle school students whose classes are moving faster than their confidence.
Law school and adult learners nearby
Westchester has its own law school, Pace's Elisabeth Haub School of Law in White Plains, and many working adults in the county commute to or from New York City. If you are considering law school, our LSAT tutoring is built for the current exam with Logical Reasoning and Reading Comprehension, and sessions can happen in the evening online so that you do not have to travel. Our college and adult tutoring and modern-skills tracks, Introduction to AI, web development and finance, also suit commuters whose time is limited.
Where in-person sessions happen
In-person tutoring happens at your home or at a nearby public spot. Public libraries across the county, such as those in White Plains, Yonkers, New Rochelle, Scarsdale and Mount Vernon, are common choices because they are quiet, free and accessible by car or train, but each library has its own room and noise rules, so check ahead. Novam Learning is not affiliated with any school or library named on this page. We mention them so you can picture how sessions work.
Price
Tutoring is $100 per hour for every subject. In-person sessions add a travel fee based on location, agreed in advance. Five, ten and twenty-session packs lock in a weekly slot. Learn more about the Bronx, Manhattan and the other areas we serve.
